MWA Live - Audits

The dynamic website images aren’t displaying in my report cover. What should I do?

On rare occasions, our audit will show a blank image instead of the website screenshots. This is often due to geo-restrictions or slow sites. A few different APIs generate the dynamic reports we generate for the website referenced in the report. There are varying factors as to why this happens. This rarely has anything to do with our website or the 3rd party APIs we use but are related to the website you’re auditing. The two main reasons we’ve found are: The website has blocked traffic from specific regions from accessing their site. Our app uses Google APIs to pull info related to page speed, mobile friendliness, etc. The API will probably return an error if the site is blocking traffic. This often leads to our app not rendering a dynamic image of the site. We recommend removing the region-specific restrictions, rerunning the audit, and enabling the restrictions back on the website once completed. The website load time is slow. We’ve identified on several occasions that the actual website load time is so slow that the API times out or fails, returning a blank screenshot of the site. This usually occurs on websites using modern JavaScript frameworks, where the website can return a 200 status to the browser for quick load time and then perform additional HTTP calls to load the rest of the CSS and JS files. We added additional measures in place to overcome this issue. Please see the steps below to learn how to generate the screenshot for the audit manually. STEP 1: Log in to your dashboard. Hover over the Customize Report Icon. STEP 2: Click on the Image icon. STEP 3: Wait for the system to generate the screenshots for the website using different APIs. STEP 4: Pick an image from the defined pictures or use the last option to upload a custom image to show on your audit report. Are you still having problems?
