What should I do if my WordPress Technical audit fails?

Use one of the two workarounds outlined in this FAQ if the My Web Audit WP plugin used to run the WP technical audit fails or errors out. My Web Audit allows you to perform a WordPress Technical Audit on any WordPress website efficiently in minutes. This is done by leveraging the MyWebAudit WordPress plugin. It is secure and requires very few resources to run it. Before running the WordPress Technical audit, you would need to install and activate the plugin on the target website. If you have not already done so, download the My Web Audit WordPress plugin and follow the directions here. Several factors could prevent the My Web Audit application bots from connecting to the WordPress website. These could range from security plugins like WordFence, iThemes Security Pro, etc., or third-party DNS providers such as Cloudflare. If My Web Audit can’t connect to the site; you can try either of these two workarounds. Both take just a minute or two to execute. OPTION 1: MY WEB AUDIT REST API We recommend using our REST API feature that leverages a secure token to transmit the information needed for the website audit. Here is how you can execute this step in less than 60 seconds. STEP 1: Log in to your My Web Audit account. STEP 2: On the dashboard, locate the row that contains the audit for the site in which the WP audit failed. STEP 3: Hover over the red WP icon in the row of the audit you are working with and click the Copy Token link. STEP 4: Log in to the target WordPress site. From the left menu, go to Settings > My Web Audit. Then paste or type the TOKEN as in the form below and click the Submit button. This will securely post the required data from the target WordPress website to the My Web Audit app to finish the WordPress Technical audit for the particular website. Note: The data will be transferred securely in an encrypted format which can only be decrypted using a private key. OPTION 2: DOWNLOAD THE ENCRYPTED DATA Suppose the website can’t communicate with our My Web Audit API for some reason. In that case, we will need you to use this option to download an encrypted version of the WP metadata and upload it directly into My Web Audit to execute the WP Technical audit successfully. Note: This does not include sensitive data like usernames or passwords. STEP 1: Log in to the target WordPress site. From the left menu, go to Settings -> My Web Audit. Click on the DOWNLOAD button shown in the image below. This will download a .txt file that contains the data in an encrypted format. Once the .txt file has been downloaded, you will need to upload it on www.mywebaudit.com to be processed. STEP 2: Log in to your My Web Audit account. On the dashboard, locate the row that contains the audit for the site that failed the WP Technical audit. Hover over the red WP icon and click the Import File link. STEP 3: In the popup, select the downloaded file from where you saved it in step 1. Once the file is selected, click the Import button. This will import the required data into the My Web Audit app to execute and successfully finish the WP Technical audit for the particular website. Hopefully, this guide will resolve the WordPress audit issues. If you face any challenges or have any questions, please use the in-app live chat or email us at support@mywebaudit.com.
